He lept into our lives on February 29th and into our hearts...

Well, it's been well over a year since I have posted and due to many requests I have decided to start up again (let's see how long I can keep it up...just enjoy for now). Actually, I had an amazing day with Owen and it inspired me to start documenting our experiences. Not to mention he is now speaking in paragraphs. I no longer have to come up with witty captions for the pictures because he comes up with some very good sayings himself.

We spent the morning at the Atlantis Aquarium in Riverhead. Owen had a blast and proved just how grown up he has become. He walked the entire time (no stroller!), held my hand, and we discussed each exhibit. He was a little apprehensive about getting close to any of the tanks and that was my fault. The first place to go when you enter is the sting ray petting pool. I held him and showed him how you could reach in and pet the fish. Well, one darted at me and I instinctively jumped and screamed. Way to go mom. But, by the end of the trip he was happily touching the glass and saying "they can't get me." While we watched the sea lion show I became overwhelmed with happiness because there he was, finally capable of sitting peacefully and having a conversation. Well, we talked about the ball hanging over the tank the entire show. He was more interested in this suspended ball than the sea lion tricks. Such a sport nut. We had an overpriced lunch in the aquarium cafe which included his favorite- french fries, in which he wasn't the least bit interested. He kept saying, "more fish, more fish!" His favorite part of the adventure was the cuttlefish and dancing to the music in the shark exhibit (the Jaws theme song, of course). Our last stop was to the gift shop. He ran right in, by passed all the stuffed sea creatures and toys and knelt right in front of a large bin of balls. He just stared without touching and would look at me and then look back at the balls. I am a sucker for buying him things every time we are out, but this was ridiculous. And so, I carried him out of our wonderful experience kicking and screaming.

Within minutes of getting in the car he was sound asleep and I had a nice peaceful drive home.

Later in the evening, Matt asked Owen what he saw at the aquarium and he said "a fish bit mommy."

Owen loves climbing in my bed naked after his bath. Probably doesn't want to have an accident in his own bed while in the buff.

Guess he thought he needed the glasses so he could draw better.

First bicycle ride.

Owen's first time sleeping in his big bed. He said he was okay with the flower sheets for the time being.

He said he was looking for butterflies.
